This is a private tour from Palermo's historical centre to Monreale's magnificent cathedral (one of Sicily's most famous sites).

You will be picked up in a luxury Mercedes Sedan (3 pax) or van (4 to 8 pax)  by a professional licensed English speaking driver. 

You will drive to Segesta (about 60 minutes away) to visit the archeological site of ancient "Egesta"  and see the world's best-preserved ancient Greek temple and a classical amphitheatre overlooking a scenic valley. 

Segesta emerged as one of the most important Sicilian-Greek cities of antiquity. The Segestans themselves were a formidable force both economically and militarily. The hilltop site of the ancient city was inhabited into the Middle Ages, and boasts the crumbling ruins of a Norman castle, a small church and a mosque, along with a classical amphitheatre. Built before 430 BC, the Doric temple is the focal point of Segesta.

The excursion will continue to Erice, a hilltop medieval town near the coast.  Your driver will take you west toward the coast to the beautiful town of Erice, located on Mt Erice. According to legend, Erice was founded by the Trojans while in exile from their own land. Walk up to Venus Castle, a breathtaking structure from the Norman period built on top of the ancient Temple of Venus. Take in stunning views of the city below from the castle walls.

This excursion will take you to Cefalù up the coast (about 55 minutes) to this seaside town of charming winding streets dominated by a medieval Norman-era cathedral and the ruins of a hilltop fortress.

 

You will explore the city of  Cefalù and see its magnificent buildings, such as it's famous Cathedral of Norman architecture style, and be enchanted by the natural beauty of the area’s magnificent landscapes. Experience Cefalù’s distinctive ambiance and admire its spectacular Castello della Rocca, built atop the huge rock formation around which the city grew in the 13th century.

 

You will also have a chanche to explore some of Palermo's highlits like Palermo’s Cathedral (also built by the Normans), or  the Royal Palace with it's 12th century Palatine Chapel, built by the Normans, but decorated with Byzantine- and Islamic-style mosaics.
